From Gen Z-led protests to schoolchildren blocking highways, a new form of youth assertion is becoming increasingly visible in Uttar Pradesh, where students are taking their grievances directly to the streets and demanding answers from authorities.
More than 200 girl students of the government-run Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalaya for Girls in Lucknow blocked a busy road on Monday,
protesting over a shortage of teachers, poor-quality food and other problems at the residential school.
The students blocked the Lucknow-Dungga road for nearly two hours, bringing traffic to a halt. Videos from the protest showed students sitting in front of vehicles and forming a human chain while raising slogans and demanding that senior officials visit the spot and listen to their grievances.
