A SpiceJet Q400 with 75 passengers lost an outer wheel during takeoff from Gujarat’s Kandla on Friday but continued its journey to Mumbai.

The aircraft continued its journey to Mumbai and landed safely. After a smooth landing, it taxied to the terminal under its own power, and all passengers disembarked normally, a SpiceJet spokesperson said.

Before the plane landed at the Mumbai airport, a full emergency was declared at around 3:50 pm.

"An aircraft from Kandla made an emergency landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport



(CSMIA) at 15:51 hrs on 12 September 2025 after reporting a technical issue. A full emergency was declared as a precaution. The aircraft landed safely on Runway 27, and all passengers and crew are safe. Normal operations resumed shortly after. Safety remains CSMIA’s top priority," the Mumbai airport said in a statement.

A similar incident happened when a SpiceJet flight, operating from Dubai to Kerala's Kochi suffered a tyre burst in 2023. The incident happened while the flight - SpiceJet Boeing 737, was landing at the Cochin airport.

No injuries were reported there as well.
