Mumbai’s special CBI court has rejected former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh’s plea seeking default bail in a corruption case. Special CBI court Judge S H Gwalani also rejected similar pleas of Deshmukh’s former secretary Sanjeev Palande and his former personal assistant Kundan Shinde. The three had contended that CBI has not submitted its charge sheet within
the 60-day stipulated period and that the one file was incomplete. The claim was however refuted by the CBI.
The case pertains to allegations made by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh that Deshmukh had asked police officers to collect 100 crore rupees per month from restaurants and bars.
