The Southwest Monsoon is likely to arrive early this year, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting monsoon onset over Kerala during the next 3 to 4 days. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that conditions are favourable for the monsoon onset over Kerala five days ahead of its usual date of 1st of next month. 

IMD Scientist Naresh Kumar said that the southwest monsoon is now expected to hit Kerala within the next 3 to 4 days and is likely to advance into parts of Bengal and



the Northeast shortly afterwards.  
 
Meanwhile, Maharashtra, Kerala, Goa, and Coastal Karnataka continue to witness heavy rainfall, with similar conditions forecast for the next five to six days. The weather department has issued a red alert for heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over Rajasthan for the next three days. Heatwave conditions are also expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and East Rajasthan until the 23rd of this month.
