The Southwest Monsoon arrives in southern parts of Kerala, marks the start of the four-month-long rainfall season in India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD)Director-General Mrutunjay Mohapatra said the Southwest Monsoon has finally made onset over Kerala after a delay of two days.

This time the state is gearing to



receive around 96 to 104 percent average rainfall through the monsoon showers.  According to the monsoon forecasts, the state will receive a below average rainfall during the period from June to September.

Fishermen have been warned of strong winds in the Arabian Sea and hence have been directed not to venture out into the sea.
