Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi as she was feeling unwell, sources said on Tuesday. Both her children, Lok Sabha MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were also present in the hospital, they added.

Rahul, however, left later. It was not immediately clear what was the exact cause behind Sonia Gandhi's latest hospitalisation.

The Rajya Sabha MP was earlier admitted to the same hospital in January this year due to

respiratory discomfort.

At the time, doctors had determined that her bronchial asthma was mildly exacerbated due to the combined effects of Delhi's winter and air pollution.

Sonia Gandhi turned 79 this December. She currently serves as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.

The veteran Congress leader also served five terms as a Lok Sabha MP prior to her stint in the Upper House. The high-profile parliamentarian is also a two-time former president of her party.
