Six-year-old Teghbir becomes youngest mountaineer to scale Mount Elbrus

Teghbir Singh, a six-year-old from Punjab, has set a new world record by becoming the youngest mountaineer to scale Mount Elbrus. It is the highest mountain in Russia and Europe, which is 18,510 feet (5,642 metres) high. This is the tenth-most prominent peak in the world as well. Teghbir started the trek with his father Mr. Sukhinderdeep Singh, on June 20th and reached the Elbrus peak on June 28th. 

Speaking to Media person, Teghbir said that he had made it a point to scale the mountain and he succeeded in doing that. His mother, a gynaecologist,  Dr Manpreet Kaur said his diet and training by his trainer Bikramjit Singh Ghuman played a major role in this achievement. He received a certificate by the



Mountaineering, Rock Climbing and Sports Tourism Federation of Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, in Russia, mentioning that Teghbir Singh from India is the world’s youngest summiteer on Mount Elbrus at the age of 6 years, 9 months and 4 days. The previous world record to scale this mountain was set by Wagah Kushagra, a native of Maharashtra, who set the world record last year at the age of 7 years and 3 months.

In August 2024, Teghbir became the youngest Asian to scale Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak of the African continent. For this, his name features in the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records. He had also reached the Mt Everest Base Camp in Nepal in April 2024.
