Assam Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has said that the situation in the state is under control. He said that additional forces have been deployed to control the law and order situation.

Mr. Mahanta said that over 1000 persons have been detained out of which 65 were arrested for their alleged involvement in violent protests. The DGP has appealed the agitators to be careful so that bad elements do not hijack the situation. He requested the guardians to be careful so that their children would not be involved in violence in the name of



protest against Citizenship Amendment Act. Mr. Mahanta said that police would not allow the situation to go out of hand.

Curfew has been relaxed for six hours from 8 in the morning till 2 p.m. at Dibrugarh municipal town area. In Guwahati, 7 hour relaxation in curfew has been announced, from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m.

Deputy Commissioner of the district, Biswajit Pegu told that necessary steps are being taken to provide essential food items in Guwahati and other parts of the district.
