Sikkim is all set to celebrate its 50th Statehood Day today with vibrant events planned at Paljor Stadium and Manan Kendra in Gangtok. The celebrations will begin with a ceremonial parade, a tribute to former Chief Minister L. D. Kazi through butter lamps, and the conclusion of the “Run for Unity” led by marathoner Shanti Ram Nepal. Highlights include the launch of the Festivals of Sikkim magazine, the “Visit Sikkim” mobile app, AR games, and a time capsule carrying official messages from the Governor and Chief Minister.

In honour of the golden jubilee, the government will introduce initiatives in mental health, tourism, wildlife conservation, and folk literature.

Awards and grants will be distributed to sportspeople and sports associations.

Later in the day, Manan Kendra will host a felicitation ceremony for distinguished citizens, followed by a documentary screening on Sikkim’s five-decade journey and a Broadway-style cultural performance. The day will conclude with the final match of the Sikkim Premier League at Paljor Stadium.

Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, in their official messages, praised Sikkim’s remarkable transformation and called for unity, cultural pride, and collective efforts toward a prosperous future.
