The Congress on Tuesday appointed senior Karnataka leader Siddaramaiah to its highest decision-making body, the Congress Working Committee (CWC), in a move that comes just ahead of Chief Minister-designate D K Shivakumar's swearing-in ceremony.
The appointment, announced with immediate effect, is being seen as a significant organisational decision by the party leadership as it seeks to ensure stability and coordination within its Karnataka unit during a key political transition.
The decision was communicated through an official press release issued by AICC General
Secretary K C Venugopal on June 2.
Siddaramaiah's induction into the Congress Working Committee places him in the party's apex decision-making forum, which plays a central role in shaping organisational and political strategy.
The move comes at a crucial moment for the Congress in Karnataka, with D K Shivakumar set to take oath as the state's next chief minister.
Party leaders view the appointment as an effort to strengthen coordination between the state leadership and the national leadership while maintaining organisational balance in Karnataka.
