Excitement gripped Kanakapura, the home constituency of Karnataka Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar, on Wednesday as preparations intensified for his swearing-in ceremony.
Banners and cutouts congratulating Shivakumar on becoming Chief Minister were put up around his residence and across the constituency ahead of the ceremony, scheduled to take place at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru at 4 pm.
Meanwhile, Shivakumar on Tuesday said the Congress high command would release the
final list of ministers by 10 am or noon on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, he dismissed media reports regarding ministerial selections, saying the names circulating in the media were not official and that the final list would be announced by the party leadership.
Shivakumar also confirmed that the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Congress Bhavan had been postponed. He said post-swearing-in engagements would include meetings with party functionaries and a Cabinet meeting.
