Chairperson of Andhra Pradesh State Women’s Commission Rayapati Sailaja said they received an anonymous email from a student of Dr. Nori Rama Sastry Government Ayurvedic College, in the city, regarding alleged sexual harassment by a professor.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Sailaja said that even though an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) had been formed, the students claimed no action was taken.

In the email, the student alleged that they were being threatened, that if they complained, they would either be failed or would get poor

marks in the examination, and instilled fear in them.

Following the complaint, the Women’s Commission visited the college and spoke to students. “We came to know that whatever was mentioned in the mail is true,” Sailaja confirmed. The commission panel also reviewed the reports prepared by the ICC.

“We are not really happy with the way it has been handled,” she stated, and that the Commission will file a fresh report and submit it to the registrar of NTR University of Health Sciences, and ensure action is taken against the faculty, she said.
