In  Ladakh, seven army jawans were killed and 19 critically injured in a bus accident near Turtuk, Nubra. An accident took place this morning when the bus driver lost control and skid off the road and plunged into the Shyok river.

Sources said, 26 soldiers of 22 Maratha Li were moving from Partapur Transit Camp to a forward location in Sub Sector Hanif in Turtuk Sector, yesterday.  

Seven soldiers were found dead on the spot in the accident. 19 critically injured were taken to the Hunder field unit. After administering first aid, the injured



were shifted to Chandigarh by army service aircraft. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the death of seven soldiers of the Indian army who lost their lives in an accident in Ladakh yesterday. In a tweet, Mr Modi said that he is anguished by the bus accident in which the country has lost its brave soldiers. He said, his thoughts are with the bereaved families and he wished for a speedy recovery for those injured. The Prime Minister said, all possible assistance is being given to the affected.
