A Class nine student from Proddatur town ran away from home on his bicycle, angry after being scolded by his father, and cycled non-stop overnight for 100 Kms till he reached Nandyal. From there, he left for Raichur in Karnataka by train and was eventually traced by the police based on the CCTV footage.
As per details revealed by Proddutur CI Konda Reddy, the boy's father had scolded him for fighting with his brother on Sunday.
In a fit of rage, he packed his bag and cycled nonstop through the night via Rajupalem Chagalmarri Road and reached Nandyal in the morning hours. He tried selling the cycle for money, but when questioned by the shopkeeper, he abandoned the cycle near Nandyal
railway station and took the train to Raichur.
Worried that his son hadn't returned home, the father lodged a complaint with the police after searching for him. As he didn't have a phone, finding him became difficult. However, relying solely on the CCTV footage, they identified the boy riding a bicycle with a school bag. The police traced his whereabouts to Nandyal.
Constable Narasimha Naidu left for Nandyal and searched in lodges, hotels, and vacant places. They found the boy's bicycle near the railway station and noted that he boarded a train to Raichur.
Police went there, brought him back to Proddatur, and the boy was reunited with his parents in Proddatur on Monday.
