Railway hotels, canteens and other food establishments came under inspection from the officials attached to the Food Safety Division of the Department of Food Safety and Drugs Administration and the special inspections at 112 food establishments detected fungal growths on onions and vegetables, suspected use of non-permitted colours in food products, yellow colour was found to have been used in jalebis and pink colour in khoa peda.

In some cases, the inspection team of food officials selling expired food articles were detected in some food



establishments. 

Minister of Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader told reporters in Bengaluru on Thursday next cmes food served in flights. The Minister stated “It is not the question of right or wrong but an awareness is my intention.”

The inspection at Mysuru Railway Station, a press release stated officials came across idlis prepared using plastic materials instead of clothes, the condition of a hotel at K.R. Puram Railway Station in Bengaluru was found to be unhygienic and the inspection at Haveri Railway Station found expired Nandini curd and Dodla standardised milk.
