City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Thursday constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate crimes allegedly involving Nepali gangs and persons of Nepali origin operating in the city.
The team was formed under the IT Cell and will function under the supervision of inspector Daniel Shanti Kumar. The development follows the recent murder of the wife of a
retired IPS officer in Jubilee Hills and other incidents where such gangs are allegedly involved.
The SIT comprises 20 personnel, including sub-inspectors, head constables and police constables from CCS, Task Force, cybercrime wing, IT Cell and multiple police stations. The team includes both field and technical personnel to strengthen intelligence gathering and operational response.
