The TVK government’s decision to provide cars to MLAs to facilitate their travel within their constituencies caused yet another ruckus in the Assembly on Friday, with DMK member Markandeyan raising it several days after the announcement.
Peeved over the DMK raising it again during the debate on the grants for the Housing department, Law Minister C T R Nirmal Kumar
urged the ruling party members not to stir the issue again.
The heated debate saw the question as to who had spent Rs 24 crore on a car race in Chennai when the State was facing a financial crisis being raised by the leader of the House K A Sengottaiyan, which led to DMK’s K N Nehru answering that it was done during Udhayanidhi’s tenure as Sports Minister.
