In critical moments after a road accident, when every second can decide between life and death, the absence of immediate medical care often proves fatal.
Addressing this harsh reality, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has recently, in his speech in Rajya Sabha had underscored the importance of the cashless treatment
programme for road accident victims, calling it a lifesaving intervention in real-life emergencies.
Under the scheme, victims will be entitled to cashless medical care of up to Rs 1.50 lakh per person per accident for the initial seven days of hospitalisation, with the government facilitating payments to remove financial barriers to immediate treatment.
