In Jharkhand, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislator Ravindra Nath Mahto from Nala constituency was unanimously elected as the new Assembly Speaker on the second day of the Assembly session today. Protem Speaker Stephen Marandi administered the oath to the newly elected Speaker of the State Assembly. 

Chief Minister Hemant Soren wished the newly elected Speaker on taking up the new position. Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahto expressed his gratitude towards the Members of the Assembly for his election for the post.

Talking to the reporters, Mr Mahto



said, he is ready to take up the new responsibility as the Speaker of the State Assembly. He said that he will maintain the sanctity of the post and treat both the ruling and opposition members equally.

Governor Draupadi Murmu yesterday addressed to the new legislators on the second day of the session and emphasized on conservation of water, forest and land to bring an all round development of the state. A supplementary budget of 4,210 crore rupees was also tabled by the Hemant Soren Government in the Assembly session.
