Mumbai: Actor Mukesh Rawal, best known for portraying Vibhishan in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, passed away in a train accident on Wednesday morning, confirmed a family member.

The actor was on his way to dub for an upcoming Gujarati film, when the accident occurred.

“His dead body was found today morning at a railway track in Mumbai. He died in a train accident. We haven’t got the body yet for the last rites. It is still in the morgue,” Indian Express quoted his cousin sister-in-law Tejal Rawal as saying.

Since his body was found on the railway track near Kandivli, media reports speculating suicide had begun

circulating.

"His body was found yesterday at 9.33 AM, but the actor's kin identified him this morning," Commissioner of Railway Police Niket Kaushik told PTI.

"His son-in-law came at the Kandivali railway station in search of Rawal, who had gone missing. The officials sent him to a hospital where he identified the body," the Commissioner added.

The actor will be cremated tonight, in Mumbai. Rawal, who was a popular Gujarati artist, has also appeared in Bollywood films like ‘Zid,’ ‘Satta,’  ‘Auzaar’ and ‘Kasak’.

He was last seen in the Gujarati film, ‘Sathiyo Chalyo Khodaldham’.
