Railways Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday undertook a surprise visit on the Kota Jan Shatabdi, to gain feedback from the passengers for improvement. The visit comes in light of the recent spate of derailments that have plagued the Indian railways over the past month.

The accident comes a day after a major mishap was diverted on the Howrah-New Delhi route in Burdwan by alert locals on Saturday.
The locals waved a red cloth, stopping a train from passing the region after noticing loose fishplates on the tracks.
