Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will lay the foundation stone of the Wagon Periodic Overhauling facility to enhance the capacity of the Jamalpur Rail Workshop in Munger district of Bihar today. This project will cost approximately 79 crore rupees. Upon its completion, this facility will increase the capacity of the Jamalpur Workshop, and its wagon maintenance capacity will reach 800 wagons. The Jamalpur Rail Workshop was established during British rule in 1862 and is among Asia’s oldest rail maintenance depots. He will also inspect the Jamalpur railway station and assess passenger
amenities.
The Rail Minister will also visit the Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE), a pioneer training institute for railway officers focusing on mechanical and electrical engineering. He will also interact with officials at IRIMEE on various issues. Union Minister and Munger MP, Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, will also be present with him. Mr. Vaishnaw arrived in Patna last night on a 2-day visit to Bihar. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha welcomed him at Patna Airport.
