With stakes in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections going higher following a high first phase of voting on Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday took aim at the BJP, PM Modi, Nitish Kumar and did not even spare Home Minister Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah while addressing a poll rally in Bhagalpur ahead of the second phase of voting. He trained his guns at the cricket administrator, questioning his cricketing abilities, asking if someone could tell him what makes Jay Shah capable of running the sport when he doesn’t even know how to hold a bat.

Addressing an election rally in Bhagalpur ahead of the next phase of polling on November 11, the Congress MP said, "Only if you are the son of Adani, Ambani or Amit Shah, can you dream big. Amit

Shah’s son (Jay Shah) doesn’t even know how to hold a bat, forget about scoring a run. But he is the chief of cricket. He controls everything in cricket. Why does he control everything? Because of money".

Jay Shah, since December 2024, has been the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), cricket’s global governing body.

Previously he held the office of the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the premier body governing cricketing affairs in Asia. He was in office from 2021 to 2024.

Before that, he served as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 2019 to 2021 after he completed his tenure with the Gujarat Cricket Association.
