Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured various journalist associations across the state that the Special Public Security Act proposed by the state Government is crucial for internal security. He was speaking with representatives of various journalist associations in Mumbai yesterday to address their concerns regarding the proposed legislation.

The Chief Minister said this law will not trouble journalists or any common citizen, nor will it infringe upon their freedom of expression. He clarified that this law is not intended to target individuals but rather organizations involved in

anti-national activities.

There were concerns among journalist organizations regarding certain provisions of the proposed Maharashtra Public Security Act. To resolve these concerns and provide clarity on the purpose and benefits of the Act for national security, an in-depth discussion was held. Mr. Fadnvis pointed out that several Maoist organizations banned in other parts of the country have now shifted their headquarters to Maharashtra and operate from urban areas. Therefore, he said, if this law is not enacted now, Maharashtra may face significant challenges in the future.
