President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the national conference of woman legislators in Thiruvananthapuram today. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan will preside over the inaugural session at the Kerala Legislative Assembly Complex. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his Council of Ministers, Speaker M.B. Rajesh, Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan and MLAs will be among those present.

President Ram Nath Kovind will formally open the two-day conference at the Kerala Legislative Assembly Complex this morning. This is the first-ever national conference of this kind to be held in the country.  

The conference hosted by the Kerala Legislative Assembly will have sessions on  Constitution and Women's Rights,  Role of  Women in India's



Freedom Struggle, Women's Rights & Legal Gaps, Under-representation of Women in Decision Making Bodies besides an Open House for interaction and feedback.  

Women legislators from the Parliament, Speakers and Legislators from different States are expected to participate. The programme is being organised as part of the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav coinciding with the 75th anniversary of Independence.

The President who arrived in Thiruvananthapuram last night was given a warm welcome by the Governor and other dignitaries. Mr. Ram Nath Kovind will leave Thiruvananthapuram for Pune this evening."

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will address the valedictory function tomorrow.
