Kavaratti: President Droupadi Murmu, who is in Lakshadweep as part of her six-day tour, yesterday interacted with members of Women Self Help Groups at Kavaratti.

During her interaction, the President said while women dedicate themselves to the well-being of their families, they should also take ample care of their own health and finances. She called upon women to provide good education to their children irrespective of their gender and urged them to make those women role models, who came up in life despite severe odds.

The SHG members who interacted with the President are engaged in sea-weed farming, rearing of ornamental fishes, poultry and nutrition



farming.

Lakshadweep Administrator Praful Patel was present on the occasion. President Murmu later left for Bangaram island, where a  cultural programme is scheduled to take place this evening in honour of the visiting dignitary. 

Today, the President will participate in water sports activities and will take a boat ride around the lagoon covering Thinakara and Parali Islands. She will also take part in a glass bottom boat ride besides watching bioluminescence from Bangaram beach at night.

On Tuesday, President Murmu will reach Agatti airport, from where she will proceed to Kochi on her way back to New Delhi.
