President Droupadi Murmu, who arrived in Dehradun on a three-day visit, inaugurated Rashtrapati Tapovan and Rashtrapati Niketan in Dehradun yesterday on the second day. She also inaugurated public facilities, including the visitor facility centre and the cafeteria. Also laid the foundation stone of Rashtrapati Udyan at Rashtrapati Niketan. On this occasion, a book based on the biodiversity of Rashtrapati Niketan, Tapovan and Rashtrapati Udyan was also released. 

This book lists more than 300 flora and more than 170 fauna species of Rashtrapati Niketan, Tapovan and the garden, including butterflies, birds and mammals. Rashtrapati Tapovan will be opened to the general public from June 24, and Rashtrapati Niketan from July 1. The President also hosted an At- Home Reception at Rashtrapati Niketan. Earlier, she released a postal stamp in Dehradun to mark 125 years of Raj Bhavan, Nainital, and unveiled a coffee table book. The President



also offered prayers at an ancient Shiva temple.

During this, Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present.
President Draupadi Murmu also visited the National Institute for Empowerment of the Persons with Visual Disabilities in Dehradun and interacted with the students. She said that today’s era is the era of science and technology. With the help of advanced technologies, Divyangjan can also contribute to the mainstream.

Smt. Murmu said that the National Education Policy-2020 includes provisions to provide equal educational opportunities to children with disabilities, like other children.

Union Social Justice Minister Virendra Kumar, Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present on the occasion
