Patna: President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday exhorted legislators of Bihar Assembly to take vow for the development of the state. Speaking at the inaugural function of the Centenary Celebration of Bihar Legislative Assembly Building, Mr Kovind said, aspirations of the people should be taken care and democratic values must be maintained.

The President said, Bihar Assembly has witnessed historical changes during its journey. Mr Kovind said, Celebration of Centenary of Bihar Assembly House is momentous as the country is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The President said, the country has created milestone after completion of 100 crore doses of COVID vaccination in the country.

Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha and  Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also addressed the function on this occasion. All the legislators, including former MLAs and Members of Parliament were invited for the function.

Earlier, the President laid the foundation stone of the Centenary Memorial Tower and planted a sapling of Bodhi tree in the Assembly House premises.

The Assembly building hosted the inaugural session of the joint Bihar and Orissa Provincial Council on February 7, 1921.

Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha said, through the Centenary Celebration, the new generation will come to know about the glorious past of the Assembly.
