Polytechnic Students Protest Over Lack of Basic Amenities in Nellore

Hundreds of students of the Government Polytechnic College at Venkateswarapuram staged a protest on Tuesday, alleging inadequate basic amenities and unsafe conditions on the campus. 

The students complained of contaminated drinking water, dilapidated classrooms with peeling ceilings, poor-quality hostel food and the absence of a compound wall or fencing. 

Women students alleged that outsiders were entering the campus and engaging in anti-social activities, raising safety concerns. Students also claimed that



snakes frequently entered the hostel premises after dark.

MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy visited the college, interacted with the students and expressed support for their demands. He later met the principal and urged that the issues be brought to the notice of higher authorities for immediate resolution. 

The MLC alleged that the coalition government and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana had neglected government educational institutions while highlighting the development of a few schools through CSR funds.
