Polling will be held in three districts of North Bengal on 17th of this month.  One seat at Kalimpong, five seats at Darjeeling and seven seats in Jalpaiguri district will go to polls in this phase. A total of 104 candidates including 12 women are in the fray from 3 districts in this phase. Several leaders have intensified campaigning to woo the voters. Senior BJP leader and Home Minister Amit Shah will address an election rally at Lebong today.
 
Located at the foothills of the Himalayas, Siliguri has very strategic and trading importance for



West Bengal and North East region. 10 candidates including 2 women are in the fray for this high profile seat. There are 2 lakh 24 thousand voters at Siliguri where around 30 percent are non- Bengali speaking population. Senior CPI-M leader Ashok Bhattacharya would seek re-election from Siliguri. He is facing his former colleague Shankar Ghosh who is contesting on BJP ticket. The ruling TMC has given tickets to Om Prokash Mishra. 
 
Development,better infrastructure, employment generation are some of the poll planks that have been raised in Siliguri.
