Policeman Killed in Terror Attack in J&K's Anantnag

A policeman was killed in an attack by terrorists in Anantnag town of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said here.

The firing took place around 12.30 pm on Wednesday at Lal Chowk in Anantnag. 

They said one head constable, Ashiq Hussain, posted on Amarnath yatra security duty was injured in the attack and rushed to the Government Medical College hospital at



Anantnag. 

Officials said Singh lost his balance and fell from a height, sustaining fatal injuries. His body was shifted to a hospital for postmortem, and police have initiated inquest proceedings. 

The body will be taken to his hometown in Punjab for the last rites.

Security agencies are continuing the search operation in Anantnag, while further details on the terror attack are awaited.
