Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena yesterday inaugurated the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply to 111 villages in the National Capital. Mr Saxena was accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta along with several MPs, state ministers and senior officials. Addressing the gathering, LG Vinai Kumar Saxena said that the supply of PNG is not merely a technical project but a solid foundation for a cleaner and brighter future.

He said that this initiative not only connects rural areas with clean, safe, and affordable energy but also marks a significant step towards making Delhi an environmentally friendly and sustainable capital. He highlighted that the work resonates with the spirit of the Delhi Gramoday Abhiyan, which aims to equip villages with urban-level infrastructure and

ensure holistic and balanced development.

Whereas, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that in the initial phase, 130 villages were provided with pipeline connections, and in the current second phase, 111 villages are being connected. She stated that there are 116 villages remaining and assured that by the end of this year, they too will receive pipeline connections.

She said that the union government has been instrumental in emphasising the need for toilets and tackling issues such as kitchen smoke and the absence of washrooms. Mrs Gupta added that with the introduction of PNG connections, cooking gas will be consistently available, thereby resolving all related issues, including leakages.
