Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district that claimed eight lives.
In a post on X from Prime Minister’s Office, he conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the mishap.
Announcing financial assistance, the Prime Minister said an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from
the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased, while the injured would receive Rs 50,000 each.
The accident occurred near Chilakaladona in Mantralayam mandal when a Bolero vehicle carrying pilgrims from Karnataka collided with a ready-mix lorry in the early hours of Thursday. Several people were also injured and are undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals.
