Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch various development projects in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura today.

Mr Modi arrived in Guwahati yesterday evening on a two-day visit to North East. Prime Minister will reach Itanagar from Guwahati this morning and unveil a series of development projects at IG Park.

Mr Modi will lay the foundation stone for the construction of Greenfield Airport at Hollongi. The strategically important airport will boost the economic growth of the region.

Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh. It will provide all-weather connectivity to Tawang Valley for civilians as well as security forces throughout the year. The tunnel will reduce travel time to Tawang by an hour and boost tourism and related economic activities in the region.

Mr Modi will also dedicate a new TV Channel DD Arun Prabha for Arunachal Pradesh at Itanagar. The channel will be the 24th channel operated by Doordarshan.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of a permanent campus of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) at Arunachal Pradesh. This is the third Film and Television Institute of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the first two being FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata. It said this institute will provide a boost to the talented youngsters of the North-East in film and television sector.

From Itanagar, Prime Minister will return to Guwahati, where he will lay the foundation stone of North East Gas grid which will ensure uninterrupted availability of natural gas across the region and boost industrial growth. The grid is part of the government's plan to



provide cheap and quality gas to the entire North East region.

Mr Modi will also lay the foundation stone of City Gas Distribution Networks in Kamrup, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj districts. City Gas Distribution ensures the supply of cleaner fuel PNG to households, industrial and commercial units.

Prime Minister will also inaugurate Hollong Modular Gas Processing Plant in Tinsukia and LPG Capacity Augmentation of Mounted Storage Vessel in North Guwahati.

He will lay the foundation stone of NRL Bio-Refinery at Numaligarh and a 6 lane bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Guwahati - North Guwahati. Later Prime Minister will address a public rally at Changsari. Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal said these projects are part of Narendra Modi government's Act East policy.

In the last leg of his visit, Mr Modi will be in Agartala where he will dedicate Garjee - Belonia Railway Line to the nation at Swami Vivekananda Stadium. This was stated by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb.

This line will boost Tripura as the gateway to South and Southeast Asia. Mr Modi will also inaugurate New Complex of Tripura Institute of Technology at Narsingarh.

Prime Minister will unveil the statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala. Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur is widely regarded as the creator of modern Tripura. He is credited with planning of Agartala city.

Unveiling of his statue is in line with the Union Government’s policy of honouring the unsung heroes of India, who have contributed greatly to nation-building.
