Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a 4-day official visit to the United Kingdom and the Maldives today. In the first leg of his visit, he will hold discussions with his UK counterpart Keir Starmer and call on King Charles III. Briefing media in New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, Prime Minister Modi will also interact with business leaders of both countries. 

India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, said that the upcoming visit will be beneficial for both countries.

Mr Doraiswami said an agreement on free trade will have a positive impact on both economies, calling it an ambitious



document.

In the second leg of his visit, the Prime Minister will undertake a state visit to the Maldives from 25th to 26th July on the invitation of Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu. The Foreign Secretary said that the Prime Minister will be the ‘Guest of Honour’ at the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Independence of the Maldives on the 26th of July. Mr Modi will hold a meeting with President Muizzu and inaugurate infrastructure projects. z  Foreign Secretary Misri said that the Maldives is a very important partner in India’s Neighbourhood First policy and Vision MAHASAGAR.
