Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commission three indigenously built frontline Indian Navy platforms — Dunagiri, Sanshodhak, and Agray — in Kolkata on June 21, marking a major milestone in India's maritime and defence capabilities.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the commissioning ceremony will take place at the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata during PM Modi's visit to West Bengal. He is scheduled to commission the vessels at around 9:15 AM and address the
gathering.
Designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, the three platforms represent key operational capabilities in maritime combat, hydrographic surveying, and anti-submarine warfare. Dunagiri, the fifth Project 17A stealth frigate, is equipped with advanced weapons and sensors, including BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles and the Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile system, significantly boosting the Navy's combat strength.
