Vijayawada:Chief secretary K. Vijayanand on Wednesday announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest at the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations, which have been scheduled in Visakhapatnam on June 21. The tagline for this year’s celebrations is "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." In this regard, the CS held a preliminary review with officials of the concerned departments in Vijayawada. He recalled that when the PM came to Amaravati on May 2, Modi had announced that he would attend the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam.

Vijayanand disclosed that they are making arrangements for two lakh people to participate in the Yoga Day. To make it a successful event, the state government is collaborating with the Union Ministry of AYUSH, Art of Living, Isha Foundation, Yoga Sports Association, various



universities and other organisations. The chief secretary explained that the state government will implement a four-week, four-pronged action plan from May 29 to increase awareness among the people about yoga and make it a success. 

Yoga awareness campaigns will be organised in all districts for a week from May 29, at assembly constituencies for a week from June 5, at the village level for a week from June 12, and at the educational institution level from June 17. Vijayanand said the government has appointed special chief secretary (Medical and Health) M.T. Krishnababu as nodal officer at the state level to supervise the arrangements. He said that all students studying from 8th class to degree and PG from various educational institutions in Visakhapatnam city will be involved in this programme.
