Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong today virtually inaugurated the JN Port PSA Mumbai Terminal (BMCT) Phase-II.
While Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal joined the inauguration online, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shantanu Thakur were present for the inauguration ceremony at Navi Mumbai.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Shantanu Thakur said that with the 4.8 mn TEUs of capacity, the JNPA has now become
the largest container terminal in the country. He said that the state-of-the-art cranes and direct rail link to the dedicated freight corridor and other features make it a true global benchmark.
Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong for making Maharashtra the state with the highest port capacity with the inauguration of Phase II of the PSA terminal at JNPA. He added that after the completion of the Wadhwan port, Maharashtra would have one of the ten biggest ports of the world.
