New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that despite reaching the one billion landmark, our fight against COVID-19 is still not over. He said, everyone have to ensure COVID Appropriate Behaviour, wear masks, ensure social distancing in this festive season. 

Addressing the nation today, Mr Modi requested all to celebrate the upcoming festivals with utmost caution. He also cautioned against negligence in fight against COVID-19, saying however strong the shield is, arms are not laid as long as war is on. The Prime Minister appealed to all those who have not taken the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated. He said, those who are vaccinated should encourage others. 

He said, India's vaccine campaign is a living example of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas. Mr Modi said, India successfully crossed the bridge of anxiety to assurance by administering one hundred crore vaccine doses yesterday. He said, India successfully crossed the difficult but extraordinary target.

The Prime Minister said, behind this achievement is the efforts of 130 crore countrymen. He said, 100 crore vaccine doses is not just a number, but shows our ability as a nation. He said, it is not merely statistics but a new chapter in history. Mr Modi said, it is the New India that knows how to set difficult targets and achieve them. He said, India’s zeal to combat the largest pandemic witnessed across the globe in the past 100 years is commendable and shows the country's determination to fight it out. 

The Prime Minister said, the research and



development of vaccines has always been dependent upon developed nations, but when the worst pandemic of the last hundred years came, India proved it is no less. He said, the government has assisted the citizens in providing free vaccine to ensure maximum outreach to the people. 

Mr Modi said, government ensured that VIP culture does not overshadow the vaccination programme and everyone is treated equally. He said, taking everyone along, government started the vaccination campaign for everyone be it poor or rich, or in village or city.

The Prime Minister said, science and scientific approach has been the building blocks to develop Indian vaccine and overcome all the shortcomings. He said, it is a matter of pride for everyone that the entire vaccination programme of India has been Science-Born, Science-Driven and Science-Based. Mr Modi said, CoWin has simplified the ease of booking vaccination doses for Indians and acted as an assistant for the healthcare workers. He said, despite the pandemic, government has introduced projects like Central Vista, PM Gati Shakti to boost India's economic growth. 

The Prime Minister said, today, not only record investments are coming in, but new employment opportunities are also being created for the youth. He said, there is optimism everywhere and experts and world agencies are very positive about Indian economy. Mr Modi said, everyone not only have to support Vocal for Local, but instead imbibe it in the attitude when people step out this festive season to buy goods for the near and dear ones.
