Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia on his birth anniversary.

In a social media post, Mr Modi said that Dr Ram Manohar Lohia was a multifaceted personality who played a pivotal role in mobilising people against colonial rule and subsequently contributed to the progress of India after 1947.

Dr Ram Manohar Lohia as an outstanding thinker and as one of the foremost voices of social justice.

Mr Modi said that Dr Ram Manohar Lohia’s unwavering commitment to the cause of empowering the poor and the marginalised continues to inspire generations.

He also praised the thoughts of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia on gender equality and participatory governance.
