Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said, his government is committed to combating climate change and ensuring a sustainable future.
Inaugurating the 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial or IEF16 in New Delhi, Mr Modi said, his government believes in an integrated approach for energy planning, adding that India will be a key driver in the energy sector in the next 25 years.
He said people must have access to clean and affordable energy. The Prime Minister asserted, 35 million people have been given LPG connections.He said the government has a
target of giving clean fuel to 80 million people. Mr Modi also said India is the fastest growing large economy in the world, adding that it has achieved high growth rate with low inflation.
He said the government has brought transparency in the oil sector. AIR correspondent reports that IEF16 is the largest gathering of Ministers from energy consuming, producing and transit countries.
Representatives from US, China, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, UAE, Qatar, Nigeria, are attending the meeting.
