Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed condolences over the loss of lives in a powerful blast near Delhi’s Red Fort which claimed 8 lives and injured several others. The blast occurred near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said that he has reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior officials. PM Modi also said that the injured are being provided immediate assistance.

“Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other



officials,” PM Modi said in a post on X.

The explosion occurred around 7 pm when a slow-moving Hyundai i20 car stopped at a red light near Gate No. 1 of the metro station. The injured have been admitted to LNJP Hospital for emergency treatment.

Following the incident, security has been heightened across the capital. Delhi Metro stations, government buildings and IGI Airport are on high alert. Mumbai Police have also intensified security measures as a precaution.

Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the blast and providing assistance to those affected. The Prime Minister, along with Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior officials, is closely monitoring the situation.
