Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed on responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) and protecting the world against weaponisation of AI by non-state actors.
 
The Prime Minister said, Algorithm Transparency is key to establishing trust in how AI is used and it remains our collective responsibility to ensure it. 
 
Mr Modi said this while inaugurating the Summit -RAISE 2020 - ‘Responsible AI for Social Empowerment 2020 through video conference.
 
He said, we want India to become a global hub for Artificial Intelligence and people of the country are already working on this.
 
Mr Modi hoped that more people will do so in the times to come.
 
The Prime Minister said that Raise 2020 is a great effort to encourage discussion on Artificial Intelligence.
 
He said, the teamwork of Artificial Intelligence with humans can do wonders for our planet.
 
He said, India has experienced that technology improves transparency and service delivery and we want India to become a global hub for AI.
 
He said, in the pandemic situation, we have showed how India's digital readiness was a great help.
 
The Prime Minister said, India has recently adopted National Education Policy 2020 which focuses on technology based learning and skilling as a major part of education.

Mr Modi said, E-courses will also be developed in various regional languages and dialects which will benefit from natural language processing to strengthen AI platforms.
 
The Prime Minister said, the government has launched Responsible AI for youth programmes this year in April.
 
Under this programme, over 11,000 students from schools completed the basic course and are now building their projects.
 
He said, the National Educational Technology Forum is being formed and this will create an e-Education unit to boost the digital infrastructure, digital content and capacity.
 
He said, the government has launched the Atal Innovation Mission to



promote a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship and to give pace to emerging technologies for people's benefits.
 
Mr Modi said, there is a big role for AI in sectors like agriculture and creating next-generation urban infrastructure and it can be used for making our disaster management systems stronger.
 
The Prime Minister stressed that AI will unlock the unique potential of each person and will empower them to contribute more effectively to the society.
 
Minister of Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Prime Minister is very passionate about transforming the lives of people.
 
He said, technology keeps on evolving at a rapid pace but we welcome AI because it has the enormous potential to generate development, bring in further equity and delivery of services.
 
NITI Aayog CEO, Amitabh Kant said that India's digitisation efforts driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Aadhaar, UPI, GST and National Digital Health Mission have created an opportunity for Artificial Intelligence to be leveraged to increase transparency and improve governance outcomes while safeguarding personal data and privacy.
 
He said, India’s unique diversity in terms of language, culture and development challenges makes it the perfect Garage for the development of solutions that can address global challenges.
 
He said, the future development and progress of the world is intricately linked with leveraging AI knowledge to push social empowerment.
 
He said, with more than 600 millon internet users, India is very uniquely positioned to take advantage of the AI revolution.
 
Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and NITI Aayog are organizing the Mega Virtual Summit on Artificial Intelligence which will continue till  9th of October.
 
The summit will discuss cross-sector subjects like ‘Leveraging AI for Pandemic Preparedness’, the Impetus that Innovation Places on Digitisation’, Inclusive AI and Partnerships for Successful Innovation.
