In Madhya Pradesh, votes are being cast in the first phase of urban body elections today. Peaceful polling is reported from all the centres till now. Voting will take place till 5 pm. More than one crore voters are exercising their franchise in this phase.
Voting is being held in 133 urban bodies in 44 out of 52 districts in MP today. A total of 13 thousand 148 polling stations have been set up for this phase.
Out of these, 3 thousand 296 polling stations are sensitive. About 79 thousand election
officials have been deployed for a voting while; around 27 thousand police personnel have been deployed for security.
State Election Commissioner Basant Pratap Singh has informed that in the first phase, voting is going on in 11 municipal corporations, 36 municipal councils, and 86 municipal councils.
Voting for the second phase of urban elections in the state will be held on July 13. The counting of votes will take place on July 17 from 9 am.
