The ruling alliance partners the PDP and BJP has reached an agreement on jointly contesting six seats of the Legislative Council in Jammu and Kashmir. The biennial election will be held on April 17. The alliance will also try to garner support of Independent candidates to win five seats, though the two



parties will safely get four. 

Party sources told that BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also the PDP president, yesterday reached an agreement in Srinagar to jointly contest three seats each of the Legislative Council.
