A patient was seen being taken on a stretcher from the NRS Medical College and Hospital to another hospital without an ambulance in the midst of rainfall in Kolkata.

In a viral video, the patient, who was not covered with any protective shade or umbrella to prevent himself from getting drenched in the rain, was seen being taken to the Student Health Home, which was 10 minutes away from the hospital.

Around 12 noon on Saturday, some health workers were seen taking a patient out of the premises of the NRS hospital.

After getting out of the hospital

through gate number one, the wheels of the patient's bed were being moved with the help of tram tracks running along the road.

Superintendent of NRS Medical College Indira Dey said the hospital always shifts patients in ambulances and the matter is being investigated.

We take patients in an ambulance if they have to be moved. We are investigating why this has happened. Even if the hospital is at a 10 minute distance, this is not the way to take patients. We use ambulances. I think there was some kind of a misunderstanding and we are checking the reasons behind it," Dey added.
