On the occasion of Krishna Jayanthi, 14 bulls and more than 100 bull-tamers participated in the Vadamadu Manjuvirattu competition. 

A Vadamadu Manjuvirattu competition was held in the village of Vilankulathur, near Muthukulathur, in Ramanathapuram district, on Krishna Jayanthi, for the 37th year. 

A total of 14 bulls from Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Tiruchy and Sivagangai districts participated in the competition. More than 100 bull-tamers



participated in taming the bulls.

In this, a 30-foot rope was tied in the ground and each bull was brought to the field. 

A team of nine players entered the field to tame it. Twenty minutes were allotted for each bull that was brought to the field. While some bulls were tamed by the players, many rushed out and were not caught by the participants. Cash, lamps and daggers were given as prizes to the bulls that were not caught and to the successful tamers.
