Opposition MPs on Wednesday protested at the Makar Dwar of Parliament, demanding the withdrawal of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026.
Congress MP Hibi Eden termed the proposed legislation a “draconian law” that could adversely impact minorities and NGOs across the country.
Speaking to Media, Eden said the bill
would hamper the interests of not just minorities but also several NGOs operating in India. He added that the opposition would strongly condemn and demand the withdrawal of the bill.
Congress MP Dharamvir Gandhi also opposed the legislation, stating that decisions of such nature should be impartial and benefit all sections of society rather than being selective.
