One passenger dies in boat mishap in Assam

In Assam, rescue operation continued in the Brahmaputra at Nematighat in Jorhat following the boat mishap. Chief Executive Officer of Assam State Disaster Management Authority G D Tripathi said that as per the latest information 2 persons are still missing while 87 persons have been rescued or swam to



safety.

One female passenger died. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit the site today. Two ministers and several officials reached the spot last night. Three officials of Inland Water Transport department have been suspended and inquiry has been ordered by the department.
