In a move aimed at improving last-mile access to cooking fuel, the Odisha government has announced that 5-kg LPG cylinders will soon be made available at petrol pumps across the state.
The announcement was made by State Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday evening.
He said the
initiative aligns with the Centre’s Free Trade LPG Scheme and aims to expand access to smaller, more affordable fuel options.
Under the new system, consumers will be able to purchase 5-kg cylinders at petrol pumps by presenting a valid identification card. The initial cost of the cylinder has been fixed at Rs 1,537, while refills will be available at Rs 593.
